Flamenco Guitar classes/lessons
(cont.)
Eduardo also teaches the guitar so that his students begin to see how it is put into context alongside the song (cante) and dance (baile). Though some fundamental techniques are essential, this area puts less emphasis on technique and more on compas and correct chord progressions relevant to accompaniment.
Accompaniment is rarely taught or understood outside of Spain. Learning this aspect helps to build the foundations for any guitarist wishing to play solo. Guitarists outside of Spain are usually taught lots of falsetas (melody), but are left with little understanding of how they relate to the song and dance so when the non-Spanish student encounters his first experience with a singer and dancer it can be somewhat bewildering! Eduardo therefore regularly invites a singer (cantaor) and dancer (bailaor) into his classes this also makes learning great fun.
Students therefore have the option to learn solo material, song or dance accompaniment, or all three.
Eduardo has taught at various festivals and courses including the Northumbria Guitar Festival, the Lincoln Classical and Flamenco Guitar Weekend, and at the Peña de Londres.
